Cairngorm Mountain Funicular Reopens
Ski enthusiasts rejoice this Thursday as the Cairngorm Mountain funicular finally opens after closing back in September 2018.
The railway provides access to the highest ski runs on the mountain as well as the newly refurbished Ptarmigan restaurant- boasting a spacious gin bar with floor-to-ceiling windows and fantastic views of the wider mountain range.
Recently referenced by the Guardian as offering ‘the best of Scottish skiing’, with it being compared to ‘as good as skiing in the Alps’, Cairngorm Mountain offers a wide variety of challenging ski runs for expert skiers, as well as gentler slopes where beginners and families can learn.
A wintry haven for skiing and snowboarding
With just a 25 minute drive from Macdonald Aviemore Resort to the Cairngorm Mountain ski area, resort guests can experience the slopes in no time. Whether you have some free time on your hands and want to explore the local area, or are simply looking to breathe in the mountain air and take in the scenery, nature is truly on our doorstep.
Enjoy the full experience at our Woodland Lodges
For those who are seasoned skiers, and have lots of equipment to bring along, the Woodland Lodges offer the ideal space to store everything you need for a full day on the slopes. With each lodge sleeping up to 6 guests, there’s plenty of room and opportunity to bring along friends and family – it’s the perfect base to explore local activities.
Re-energise for the slopes
As with all types of exercise, rest and recuperation are essential to help you jump straight back into a new day skiing. On the resort, you’ll find Giovanni’s, a hearty and modern Italian restaurant, with fantastic stone-baked pizza and delicious pasta, as well as the elegant Aspects restaurant which prides itself on fresh, locally sourced meat and seafood.
